Emily is currently on parental leave.
Emily is a lawyer with experience across all areas of family law, working for both legal aid and private paying clients. She is also a criminal defence lawyer and undertakes work as a duty solicitor in the District Court.
Prior to starting practice, Emily worked as the research counsel to the Principal Youth Court Judge, Judge Andrew Becroft. Emily started practice in Gisborne and despite loving it there, returned to her home of Lower Hutt to practice here in 2015.
Emily volunteers at the Community Law Centre and enjoys playing netball and learning te reo Maori. She also has experience volunteering for youth organisations and has received a qualification in youth work. In 2017 Emily was appointed as a Youth Advocate in the Youth Court and enjoys representing young people between the ages of 14 and 17 in this jurisdiction. In 2018 Emily was also appointed to the Lawyer for Child panel. In 2019 Emily became a Partner of Reids Family Law.
